Step-By-Step Guide to Proper Sink Cleaning

If your drain sits on the bottom of your sink, where do you think the majority of drain clogs start? Yep, you guessed it, the sink! After several washes, the excess food and materials from your dinner will make it down the drain and cause clogs that we will have to repair. If you want to postpone those clogs, you can start with a little sink cleaning»

Materials You Need

  • Dishwashing Soap
  • Distilled Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Sea Salt
  • Old Toothbrush
  • Sponge

Step-By-Step

  • Be sure to brush all of your dishes into the trash BEFORE putting them in the sink. Salt and acid in foods can stain your sink and cause drain clogs.
  • Once the sink is clear of dishes, put a rag down the drain to act as a stopper.
  • Fill the sink up ¼ of the way and add a few drops of soap to create a warm, soapy mix.
  • Dip your sponge into the mix and start scrubbing the water up and onto the sides of the sink. Let it drain afterwards and splash clean water around to get rid of soap.
  • Take a small bowl and mix baking soda and warm water. Dip a brush into the mix and begin scrubbing the faucet and handles. It should restore the shine.
  • Once the sink has a nice shine, do a quick drain cleaning. Take 2 TBSP of baking soda and 1 TBSP of Sea Salt and pour them down the drain.
  • Wait several minutes and then add a pot of boiling water.
