DIY Drain Cleaning

All moms have them, it’s like a special instinct they develop over time. But you should see if your mom has an answer for that slow draining sink of hers. Take care of it for her with this tip from Empire Sewer & Water:

• Take 2 TBSP of baking soda and 1 TBSP of vinegar and pour them down the drain.
• You’ll start to hear a ‘fizzing noise.’ This is a good thing!
• After 15 minutes, add a pot of boiling water and let the solution wash away.
• This will provide temporary drain relief.

Load of Laundry
The laundry room is a place where mom thrives and there is a good chance she will actually get mad at you for doing this task. Some moms just love laundry, we really don’t understand it. But if you feel like pitching in and helping out, make sure you are doing it right:

• Only run a load once it is full.
• If you read the owner’s manual, it will give you a maximum weight that the unit can hold.
• Leave a scale next to the washer to determine that the load you are running is not too big or too small.
• Make sure the slop sink or drain line is clear to avoid flooding.
